Jyothika first film is the Indian film Doli Saja Ke rakhna with Akshay Khanna, directed by Priyadarshan. She then turned to the Kollywood film industry. Her first role, in 1999, a cameo appearance in Vaali, which starred Ajith Kumar and Simran.In the same year, another film, Poovellam Kettupar released.She earned critical acclaim for her performances in Kushi, Perazhagan, Chandramukhi and Mozhi, winning three Filmfare Awards South and three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.She also won an award Kalaimamani. She is one of the actresses of Tamil cinema that had the greatest success in her time. Her performance in Mozhi almost allow her to win the 2007 National Film Award for Best Actress, for which she has failed.
