Dinakshie Priyasad is a Sri Lankan actress and television presenter who made her acting debut in her fathers film Apaye Thathpara 84,000 in 1992 at the age of two. Priyasad played Chapa in the 2009 tele drama version of Upul Shantha Sannasgala’s renowned romantic novel Wassana Sihinaya. Priyasad’s other notable works include Sandagiri pawwa, Hithata wahal weemi, Ammawarune, Piyavi, and Mini Gan Dela. She has also appeared as the lead in four music videos by the artists Prabudda Geetha Ruchi – Yahamin duka kiyaganna, Tehan Perera – Unuhuma, Doctor Band – Aya Enathura and Billy Fernando – Ra Ahase. Born Baminnahennadige Dinakshie Priyasad on March 18, 1990 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, her father Dinesh Priyasad is a filmmaker and producer in Sinhala cinema and mother Shirani Priyasad is a housewife. Priyasad has two younger sisters Sheshadri Priyasad and Shanudrie Priyasad. She attended the Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya up to the ordinary level examination and completed her pre university studies at the Royal Institute in the Maths Stream. She then joined The Open University of Sri Lanka and is currently studying Engineering for her Bachelor’s degree. She is also doing her diploma in Media and Mass Communication at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She has been in a relationship with Saranga Disasekara since 2016.
