Ileana D’Cruz began her career as a model when a friend of her mother said she should used her pretty face and vibrant smile to conquer modelling industry. She then gets the people attention when advertising for Electrolux, Emami Talc and Fair and Lovely. Her attractive appearance makes her expand the career to acting field. She then appeared in Telugu language romance film Devadasu (2006), directed by Y. V. S. Chowdhary as her debut. The film not only success but D’Cruz also received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutant. She then also appearing in the gangster film Pokiri and made Tamil-language film debut in Kedi (2006). She then also appearing in other films such as Telugu film Khatarnak (2006), Rakhi (2006) and Munna (2007) .
Around 2007, D’Cruz also establish her career by starring in well-received 2007 film Aata. She then also protraying female lead role in the action film Jalsa, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Her role gets the positive review and she also earned Santosham Award, and was nominated for nomination for the Best Actress prize at the 56th Filmfare Awards South. Beside that, she also starring in some other films including Kick, Rechipo, Saleem, Shakti, and Nenu Naa Rakshasi.In 2012, she was starred in the Kollywood film Nanban. She then joining cast for Telugu film Julai which become the third biggest hit in 2012 and biggest hit in Telugu.She then also starring in Puri Jagannadh’s comedy Devudu Chesina Manushulu.
D’Cruz then made a debut in Hindi film by starring with Anurag Basu’s Barfi!. Her acting impressed many people and she then received Filmfare Best Female Debut Award, as well as a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2013, she was appearing in Rajkumar Santoshi action comedy film Phata Poster Nikhla Hero opposite Shahid Kapoor. Though the film was flop in box office, her acting again impressed so many people at that time. D’Cruz next project is Main Tera Hero, produced by Balaji Motion Pictures Happy Ending.
