She began her career as a spoken word artist, and latter asked to be a singer for the Broadway musical Rent with Eric Benet, Will Smith, and Common. She then made the debut by launched Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 in 2000. Its single, “A Long Walk”, gives her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Vocal Performance in early 2003. Though she lost to that award, she then received 2005 Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative R&B Performance. She then continued her success by launched live album, Experience: Jill Scott 826+ and , Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2. Jill Scott then get second Grammy award, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance through her collaboration with George Benson & Al Jarreau in the single “God Bless The Child”. her next studio album, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 was released on September 25, 2007 with lead single “Hate on Me”. During the spring of 2014, Jill Scott announced that she will released her fifth studio album soon.
