Mercedes Scelba-Shorte is an American fashion model and actress most notable as the runner-up of the second cycle of America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). After appearing on ANTM, Scelba-Shorte became a spokesperson for the Lupus Foundation of America. She signed with Nous Model Management and has acted on numerous television series, including One on One, All of Us, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Scelba-Shorte‘s commercial credits include Hewlett Packard, Sears, AT&T, Chili’s, MedermaTarget, Payless Shoes, Bell South, and Chevy. Other modeling credits include Kohl’s, Old Navy, Wal-Mart, Anchor Blue, Halston, Mervyn’s, Target, and Macy’s. Born Mercedes Yvette Scelba-Shorte on August 24, 1981 in New Jersey, to a Caucasian mother and an African American father, she attended Valencia High School. Before auditioning for America’s Next Top Model (ANTM), Scelba-Shorte was studying at California State University, Northridge.
