Samantha Akkineni is an Indian actress, active primarily in Tamil and Telugu films. Having acted in several commercially successful movies in Tamil and Telugu, Akkineni has established herself as one of the leading actresses of the South Indian film industry. She is the recipient of various accolades including four Filmfare Awards. Akkineni’s notable film appearances include: Ye Maaya Chesave, Baana Kaathadi, Dookudu, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Eega, Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu, Attarintiki Daredi, Manam, Kaththi, S/O Satyamurthy, Thanga Magan, A Aa, Brahmotsavam, Janatha Garage, Anjaan, Theri, 24, Mersal, Rangasthalam, Irumbu Thirai, Super Deluxe, Majili, and Oh! Baby. Born Samantha Ruth Prabhu on April 28, 1987 in Chennai, India, to parents Ninette and Joseph Prabhu, she has two older brothers named Jonathan and David. She did her schooling from Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and completed a degree in commerce at Stella Maris College, Chennai. Akkineni made her acting debut in 2010 with Gautham Menon’s critically acclaimed Telugu romance film Ye Maaya Chesave. She got married to actor Naga Chaitanya Akkineni on October 7, 2017.
